With an extensive educational background in nursing, clinical psychology, and education, Dr. Seney has held diverse roles, including Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Pediatric Psychiatric Nurse, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical expertise spans community counseling centers and specialized psychiatric inpatient units, reflecting her commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care.
In addition to her clinical contributions, Dr. Seney is an accomplished academic leader and Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts. With over a decade of experience in Addiction Psychiatry, Emily is deeply committed to helping patients navigate their recovery journeys with compassion and evidence-based practices.
Before establishing Foundations for Wellness, Emily served as a nurse practitioner at the Lifespan Recovery Center, specializing in addiction treatment. She has also been a dedicated provider at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Providence since 2010, where she has worked in behavioral health and addiction recovery and served as the lead registered nurse for its opiate treatment program. Her extensive experience reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing addiction recovery and mental health care.
Emily holds a master’s degree in nursing with an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification from Rhode Island College. She later earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from Herzing University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is an associate member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a scholar with the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, underscoring her dedication to improving health outcomes at both individual and systemic levels.
