Our healthcare team is a dedicated and diverse group of professionals working collaboratively to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to patients. Comprised of individuals from various disciplines, including Family Nurse practitioners, Psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, and administrative staff, this team combines their expertise and skills to ensure the well-being of patients. They play a pivotal role in diagnosing, treating, and supporting individuals throughout their healthcare journey. Each member brings a unique set of skills and knowledge to the table, working together seamlessly to deliver high-quality and patient-centered care. Their commitment to excellence and patient advocacy makes the healthcare team an essential cornerstone of the healthcare system, providing the essential foundation for healing and recovery.

Valerie Seney, PhD, MA, LMHC, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Valerie Seney is a multi-faceted healthcare professional with a 25 year career marked by a steadfast dedication to improving mental health and fostering community well-being. With educational backgrounds in nursing, clinical psychology, and education, Dr. Seney has served in various roles ranging from Licensed Mental health therapist, Pediatric Psychiatric Nurse, to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical contributions extend from community counseling centers to specialized psychiatric inpatients units. Complementing her clinical roles, she has made significant academic contributions as an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts, where she has been instrumental in shaping the curriculum and mentoring future healthcare professionals. Dr. Seney’s program of research has been in substance use disorders and examining barriers to care. Dr. Seney is an appointed member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association addictions council. Dr. Seney see client’s ages 15 yrs old and up.

Emily Daniell, MSN, PMHNP-BC, CARN-AP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Chief Medical Officer

Emily Daniell is a founding member, Medical Director, and advanced practice provider at Foundations for Wellness where she provides experienced care for individuals with psychiatric and substance use disorders. Emily has worked in the field of Addiction Psychiatry for the past 10 years. Prior to founding FFW, she worked at Lifespan Recovery Center as a nurse practitioner. She has also worked at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Providence since 2010 as a nurse practitioner in the behavioral health and addiction recovery departments and as the lead registered nurse for its opiate treatment program. She earned a master’s degree in nursing with an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification from Rhode Island College. In addition, she received Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from Herzing University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is an associate member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a scholar with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Kristin Lundsten, DNP, PMHNP-BC Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Kristin is a Board Certified Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who works with individuals across the lifespan (4-99).  Kristin treats a wide range of mental health issues and considers herself a generalist. This includes, but is not limited to, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, depression, anxiety, addictive disorders, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder.  She also works with people who are managing difficult life transitions requiring short-term support.  Kristin believes the cornerstone of a successful patient-provider relationship is based on a foundation of trust, transparency, and collaboration which when paired with evidence-based psychopharmacology and therapy, improve treatment outcomes.  She sees patients for a variety of services including in-depth evaluations, consultations, medication management, and supportive therapy.

Melissa Machado, FNP-BC Nurse Practitioner

Melissa is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She studied at Rhode Island College and completed her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at Rhode Island Hospital for 10 years, primarily working in the Emergency Department. She returned to Rhode Island College and completed her Master’s Degree in Acute Care and has now worked as a Nurse Practitioner for the last 5 years, working in Primary Care, Emergency and Addiction Medicine. She takes on a patient centered approach and feels collaboration and rapport is an essential part of her practice. In her free time Melissa enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Christien believes, mental health is health care. With this ideal in mind, throughout his career Christien has taken pride in normalizing and destigmatizing mental health by educating and supporting the needs of patients and their families on their journeys of health and wellness. Christien received his BSN from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and his PMHNP from Walden University. Christien has worked with adolescents at Bradley Hospital as well as at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Most recently worked in the Arbor Counseling Services Partial Hospitalization program for children and adolescents.

As a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Christien specializes in treating patients from childhood through their early 20s. Christien works with a wide range of areas, including depression, anxiety, ASD, ADHD.

Taylor Selke, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Taylor Selke is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.  She treats patients from ages 4 to 40 years old.  Taylor holds extensive experience with the pediatric autism and developmentally disabled population as well as a strong background in emergency medicine and crisis stabilization.  She believes in a holistic approach with patients and finds it important to integrate both medical and therapeutic treatment options, she believes in a strong benefit to family centered care. 

Barbara Miller - Office Manager Fall River

Barbara Miller is excited to join the team at the Fall River office of Foundations of Wellness. A proud graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Barbara has worked as support staff in various rolls including personal assistant, route manager and office manager. Each of these positions has helped her to hone her organizational, time management and communication skills. A people person at heart, in her free time, Barbara can be found at craft and vendor events chatting with customers and selling her creations. Her goal is to ensure all client are treated with respect and dignity.

Courtney Ferreira - FFW Billing Manager

Courtney enjoys working with clients helping them to complete the intake process and to facilitate any scheduling or billing needs. Courtney has many years of experience working as an office and billing manager in a behavioral health setting, and I am happy to answer any insurance related questions that may come up. Her goal is always to provide quality administrative support to our clients and providers, with an emphasis on kindness and compassion.
